
Skype releases client for Nokia&apos
The client comes with better voice quality, thanks to the addition of Skype's SILK audio codec, the software in other words used to translate voice signals into a digital format that can be sent over a data network.
The new version
With the new version, users can make free Skype-to-Skype calls over a Wi-Fi or a 3G network. The calls are free, nevertheless users on the whole have to pay for the mobile data connection. Skype recommends using an unlimited data plan.
Skype can as well be used on Apple's iPhone, iPod touch and other smartphones based on Google's Android OS, as long as long as they use version 2.1 or later. Users of Samsung's Galaxy S have to upgrade to version 2.2 of Android for the client to work, according to Skype.
