Skype releases wi-fi payment app
Internet communication company Skype has launched an app that allows users to pay for wi-fi internet at over 1 million locations, using credit on their Skype account.
The app, called Skype WiFi, was available on Apple's App Store. The service could as well be accessed using the latest version of the software for laptop PCs.
Skype's popular VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) software allows free calls to other users, or to mobile phones and landlines for varying rates. In spite of having around 170 million users worldwide, the company was losing money, Reuters reported in May.
Last month Skype announced a partnership with Facebook which allowed users of the social networking site to make video calls to one-another.
