Skype Tweaks Skype to Go to Direct-Dial Calls
With the latest revision, users can but save a direct-dialed Skype call as part of the phone's contact list, in other words than force it to use a single number and to follow voice prompts. Users can but have up to nine of these numbers saved in their phone.
The Skype to Go service in 2007
Skype launched the "Skype to Go" service in 2007, which allows users to call another Skype user over a landline or mobile phone, without the need for an Internet connection to facilitate the VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) call. Over the past few years, Skype has enhanced the service, adding support for Skype Credits as then as its subscription plans. Skype as well recently launched a low-bandwidth mobile version for telcos who operate in regions of the world without high-speed 3G networks.
Skype's attitude is a bit disingenuous, clearly; you'll need to have an Internet connection available to sign up, just like you'll need to have an Internet connection handy to read this story. If you're interested, maybe you should just go there nevertheless to sign up.
