TDS® to Expand VISI Data Center Capacity in Eden Prairie

TDS Telecommunications Corp. announces the start of a $10 million data center infrastructure expansion at its VISI data center in Eden Prairie, Minn. The project, slated to begin this spring, will double the power and cooling capacity of the facility which is already the largest commercially available Tier III data center in the region.

"We understand the long term success of our data centers will require investments and we are prepared to maintain our leadership in this growing market," adds Dave Wittwer, president and CEO TDS Telecommunications Corp.

TDS Telecommunications' parent company Telephone and Data Systems Inc. of Chicago acquired VISI in March 2010. TDS Telecommunications Corp. in Madison, Wis. has full management responsibility for the VISI data centers located in Minnesota.

The growing needs of our clients

"Our goal is to be one step ahead of the growing needs of our clients," adds Wittwer. "Businesses are outsourcing the management of core IT infrastructure at an accelerated pace. Colocation, cloud computing and disaster recovery needs are creating high demand for secure data center facilities in all our locations throughout the Midwest."

As the eighth largest telecom provider in the U.S., TDS Telecommunications Corp. connects people with broadband Internet, phone and TV entertainment services in hundreds of rural, suburban, and metropolitan communities in 30 states. With more than 40 years of experience and 1.2 million equivalent access lines in service, clients can select from the latest technologies, including: VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone service, dedicated Internet, data networking, and hosted-managed services.
