
Telefonica International Wholesale Services Picks Gilat for SkyEdge II Satellite
Gilat Satellite Networks, provider of Internet protocol-based digital satellite communication and networking products and services, announced that it has been chosen to provide a SkyEdge II satellite network for Telefonica (News - Alert) International Wholesale Services or “TIWS”, the wholesale organization within the Telefonica Group.

“This new network enhances our service offering to customers with remote offices that require direct connectivity to the Internet, or to their own corporate networks,” Shibata added.
TIWS provides communications services for fixed and mobile carriers, Internet Service Providers or “ISPs” and content providers including Telecomunicacoes de Sao Paulo (News - Alert) or “Telesp”.
With SkyEdge II network, TIWS will be able to deliver satellite broadband services including corporate VPN and Internet connectivity throughout Brazil, the company said.
Gilat's SkyEdge II is a multi-service platform that enables the delivery of high-quality voice, broadband data and video services for diverse environments including enterprises, rural networks, cellular backhaul and government network applications.
Gilat Satellite Networks (News - Alert) also announced it has been selected by Kenya Commercial Bank, or KCB, to provide a SkyEdge II broadband satellite network.
