The interesting thing is
The interesting thing is, this ad campaign did not start in a white board riddled marketing board room deep within the headquarters of K-Swiss, or come from some über hip advertising firm in the valley. No, this idea was born in bred in the brain pan of creative director Matt Murphy and principal Glenn Cole of the very nontraditional brand agency 72andSunny. Matt and Glenn came up with the idea during sitting around drinking RC Cola one sunny afternoon. So then, it was kind of of the same type, however not. I spoke with Matt via telephone line and we discussed what led to this crazy idea, how in the hell they got K-Swiss on board with it and what it was like working with Danny McBride as Kenny Powers.
Matt: We don’t act like a normal agency, I think ego gets in the way a lot and it becomes and us vs. them. I think Danny and Jody were surprised at how we handle business, doing what’s best for our customers. When you have a team of as a matter of fact smart people with a brave client and a new product, I think it’s amazing what you can pull off and this campaign is a testament to that.
