The Lippis Report and Ixia Complete Second Round of 10GE Open Networking Performance and Power Tests

Ixia, the leading, global provider of converged IP network test solutions, and The Lippis Report today announced the completion of the second round of a series of open industry data center network performance and power consumption tests. The tests will provide the industry with comparative performance and power consumption data across several 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch devices. These tests are the first of their kind, and provide network stakeholders with real-world data that compares and contrasts different 10GE equipment manufacturer products for data center fabrics.

The testing

The testing, which took place at Ixia's iSimCity proof-of-concept lab location in Santa Clara, Ca., used Ixia's Xcellon-Flex load modules to evaluate the performance of the participating vendors' top-of-the-line 10GE data center devices. The testing is as well the first to adhere to the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions telecommunications energy efficiency ratio standards, a comprehensive assessment that provides a more precise measurement of equipment's energy efficiency.
