The Spanish telecom market is expected to generate $38.6bn in service revenue in 2011 and to grow at a CAGR of 2.1% in the forecast period. Two major growth segments will be broadband Internet and mobile data, which we project to grow at CAGRs of 4.9% and 15.8%, respectively. Accompanying broadband adoption, VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) will grow at a double-digit CAGR of 24.1%, which translates into a cumulative revenue possibility of $1.5bn.
Sharp decline in dial-up Internet
Another outcome of broadband adoption is a sharp decline in dial-up Internet, which we expect to be fully replaced by broadband by 2014. Circuit-switched and mobile voice are two other segments to experience negative growth, with CAGRs of -6.9% and -2.4% in the same period.
