The X-Box 360 is wildly successful
There is no question that the X-Box 360 is wildly successful. Nevertheless, what else is there? Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office have an immense base of installed computers. At this hour, still, one should not expect substantial growth in that installed base. As such, these two products should be looked at as an income story as opposed to a growth story. And, the income story is summed up in one word: upgrades. Yet, the upgrade story might not be a long story. With the advent of cloud computing, some have predicted that the age of the traditional desktop PC is coming to a close. According to innovation industry watcher IDG, PC sales are contracting. Where does this leave these products and where does this leave Microsoft?
The other products
Most of the other products and services coming out of Microsoft seem to be sad me-too's. Zune is the failed attempt to copy Apple's iTunes and iPods. In comparison to Google's launch of its Android operating system, Microsoft's attempt to enter the smart phone market is an embarrassment. Microsoft recently announced its intention to purchase Skype. To what end? This acquisition seems to be an attempt to throw . . . excess cash . . . against the wall and see what sticks.
Mobile!!! Given, it’s a in effect late start. Learn from the faults of Apple( yes there are some). As there are with the Android OS. Build Nokia better, you truly have the money. Just get it right the first time with the Nokia brand, you won’t have a second chance. Mobile Phones and Tablets….you have the money, use it wisely!!!
The publicity Apple
One more comment…You can not buy the publicity Apple, with Mr. Jobs help, gets. Get a real spokesperson, a little controversy, and hit the media hard. Generate advertisement money can’t buy.Nevertheless you better have the product to put out there. It can be done…can you do it.
