Too little notice of Dover water warning

A neighbor told me of the alert, and I wondered why I did not receive the two calls. I found out systems typically obtain numbers for direct­dial land-line phones. Registration is needed to enter numbers for phones with cable and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) companies, cell phones as so then as e-mail.

My e-mail about this to Dover's town administrator was met with a defensive tone: "We did everything right. Good-bye." Notified elected and town officials remain silent. Maybe Dover's switch to the county dispatch system this summer might result in educa­tion and registration of residents for Reverse 911. Roxbury reportedly has joined this system for more than cost savings and newer innovation - it mitigates their liability risk.
