
Top acquisitions in the IT industry in 2010
Japanese telecommunications operator, NTT, acquired Dimension Data, for $US3.2 billion. NTT said the deal, suggested by both companies' boards of directors, would allow it to offer new IT services worldwide in the age of cloud computing. Later on in the year, DiData subsidary Dimension Data Learning Solutions purchased Excom Education's business assets.
ASX-listed telecommunications integrator, Hostech, bought Anittel, Accord Technologies, Axxis Research and Aspirence, in February. Later on in the year, the company undertook the Anittel branding and as well purchased D2K Townsville clients.
In March, shareholders of telecommunications company, Pipe Networks, accepted an offer to be taken over by TPG Telecom in accordance with a $373.09 million deal.
ASX-listed iiNet acquired rival player, Netspace, for $40 million just hours afterwards calling a trading halt. In a statement, iiNet CEO, Michael Malone, said the deal would consolidate the company's position as the leading challenger brand in the Australian telecommunications market.
