TringMe Releases True VOIP Over Wi-Fi Application & Service
It seems like VOIP applications for BlackBerry are starting to gain some momentum. The latest to join the fray is TringMe which allows you to make calls over Wi-FI using VOIP from your BlackBerry. If you don't have Wi-Fi then the app will fall back to the callback and local access numbers we have seen until now but at least it has you covered both ways. They claim to be the first to bring a true VOIP client but it seems like others beat them to that punch.
The app has some cool features like the ability to do single click conferencing by selecting multiple contacts and clicking the call button without any dial in number or PIN. The cool part about the Wi-Fi calling is that you can use your BlackBerry internationally to make calls from internet cafes and such along with sending SMS messages. The app does not require a BIS plan so it works even without a BlackBerry data plan.
