U of I, Air Force to work on cloud computing
The U.S. Air Force is giving the University of Illinois $6 million to build a center devoted to cloud computing.
The News-Gazette newspaper in Champaign reports the University Center of Excellence in Assured Cloud Computing was established last week. The center will use existing office space.
According to Campbell, cloud computing deals with a mixture of secure networks, just as military ones, with networks in private hands, and those belonging to other nations. He says such sharing has been used for non-military efforts, just as a natural disaster in Pakistan last year.
