Vitesse Hosts Quarterly Full Service Access Network (FSAN) Group Meeting
Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation, a leading provider of advanced IC solutions for Carrier and Enterprise networks, is hosting the November meeting of the FSAN Group, a consortium of over 89 globally, well-known telecommunications service providers, testing labs and first-tier equipment manufacturers. The event will take place November 2-5, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Founded in 1995 by seven leading global network operators, FSAN is an influential forum to initiate and accelerate the A-PON, B-PON, and G-PON deployment specifications. The newly ratified 10 Gbps GPON standard unveils a smoothly evolving and highly interoperable technology, which enables the GPON upgrade of 10 Gbps downstream and 2.5 Gbps upstream, to provide the capacity demand of full-service access for streaming video and other bandwidth-intensive applications in the near future.
"With the deployment of worldwide passive optical networks dramatically escalating, FSAN has been instrumental in driving standards collaboration among industry-leading service providers committed to meeting the 3D IPTV and Ultra HD TV, video on demand, VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), online gaming, and ultra-broadband Internet access market demands of tomorrow," said Paolo Solina of Telecom Italia, Chair of the FSAN Optical Access Network Working Group. "By serving as host, and by helping develop interoperable adherence to the next-generation PON standards, Vitesse is demonstrating its commitment to the growth of the broadband fiber access arena."
"Vitesse has successfully provided access innovation, manufacturing quality and customer service to worldwide carriers, which has consistently demonstrated our clear understanding of what is needed to efficiently meet their challenges of managing multi-service access networks," said Steve Perna, vice president of marketing at Vitesse. "We are honored to sponsor the November 2010 FSAN Group Meeting and look forward to many more years of close multi-vendor collaboration in delivering pacesetting interoperable next-generation access standards such as XG-PON."
