Vocalocity's Board of Directors Welcomes Tycho Howle

Leading small business VoIP provider, Vocalocity® has announced the addition of Tycho Howle to its Board of Directors. Mr. Howle is widely viewed as one of the best technology business people in Atlanta, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Vocalocity. He, along with three other members of Vocalocity’s Board, is a member of the Georgia Technology Hall of Fame; this prestigious award is given annually to a technology leader from the State of Georgia.

Leading small business phone system provider, Vocalocity® has announced the addition of Tycho Howle to its Board of Directors. Mr. Howle is widely viewed as one of the best technology business people in Atlanta, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Vocalocity. He, along with three other members of Vocalocity’s Board, is a member of the Georgia Technology Hall of Fame; this prestigious award is given annually to a technology leader from the State of Georgia.

Mr. Howle began his career working at some of the world’s leading consulting and technology firms, including McKinsey & Company, Hewlett Packard and Booz, Allen & Hamilton. He is a pioneer in the e-business arena having founded Harbinger Computer Services in March 1983, which grew to be a world class e-commerce firm with more than 1,000 employees, 40,000 active customers, and annual revenues exceeding $155 million. He was instrumental in the creation of Harbinger EDI Services and Harbinger Net Services, a joint venture with Bellsouth. Mr. Howle served as both Chairman and CEO for most of his 17-year tenure with Harbinger, and led the company through its many phases of growth including an IPO in 1995. In 2001, he founded nuBridges, Inc. a firm that provides technology solutions for extended enterprises that share sensitive data across applications, departments and organizations, and face complex security and compliance mandates, and currently serves as its Chairman.

Mr. Howle has received numerous awards for his contribution to e-business. He was selected as the 1997 Entrepreneur of the Year in Emerging Technologies for the Southeastern US, named one of the "25 Unsung Heroes on the Internet" by Inter@active Week in 1998, awarded Georgia's Businessman of the Year by the Georgia Security Dealer's Association in 1999, and was the 2002 inductee into the Georgia Technology Hall of Fame.

He is also a very active participant in community activities serving, or having served on, a variety of non-profit Boards including the Atlanta Symphony, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, the Atlanta Alzheimer's Association, the Harvard Business School Alumni Association, the Clemson University Foundation, the Clemson University Research Foundation, the Atlanta Rotary, the Technology Association of Georgia, the Carter Center Board of Advisors and the Shepherd Center Board of Advisors. Through the C. Tycho and Marie Howle Foundation and since 1998, the Howles have made nearly 200 grants to support Education, the Arts, Children’s Health, and the homeless.

Tycho has a B.S. in Physics and an M.S. in Systems Engineering from Clemson University. He also holds an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
