The IPVPN works the same way as lease lines
The IPVPN works the same way as lease lines, which transmits calls or voice data and general data through copper and fibre optic cables.
However, IPVPN works through wireless connections. For instance, if a company is in Suva, Lautoka and Labasa, they will be connected wirelessly to the Vodafone Wide Area Network.
According to Mr Prasad, once the network is connected, clients can use the Internet, send or receive emails or have a dedicated data line to their private automatic branch exchange or switchboards.
The IPVPN can as well come in handy in natural disasters. It is an enabler in cloud computing. In Christchurch, small business owners had been frustrated because they could not enter their building to retrieve data. Mr Prasad said in such instances, the IPVPN would be very useful.
