Vonage Mobile For Facebook

Vonage, the popular voice-over-IP service, has released the free Vonage Mobile For Facebook app for Android and iOS devices. With this app you can call your Facebook friends over Vonage's VOIP network for free. The call takes place over your mobile phone's 3G or Wi-Fi data connection, so it does not use your calling plan minutes. You can only make calls to your Facebook friends who are also running the app on any one of the mobile platforms. For your Facebook friends who aren't using the Vonage Mobile app you can communicate with them using Facebook chat, and send them an invitation to install the Vonage App.

The pervasiveness of mobile phones

With the pervasiveness of mobile phones and high minute calling plans, I wonder whether the value of voice-over-IP is diminishing for consumers who do not make international calls? The integration of Facebook with Android puts my Facebook friends contact info in Contacts on my phone, so if I need to talk with one of my friends I simply call them on my mobile phone. May be I am just not the target market for this type of app, what do you think, do you find it useful?
