If you're considering a home warranty program when buying a house -- to cover things just as a garbage disposal, the plumbing, the electrical wiring and the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system -- check first with Angie's List, the Better Business Bureau or online for a company's complaints.

The complaints list as well includes -- in order -- property management companies, Internet service providers, TV cable and satellite providers, wedding professionals, dry cleaners, phone services, auto sales, car services and florists.
