Winners of Trend Micro's 2011 "What's Your Story?" Internet Safety Video Contest Challenge Youth to Make Positive Choices

This year's contest received entries from both individuals and schools across the U.S., U.K., and Canada for the 2011 categories of: Being a Good Online Citizen, Using a Mobile Phone Wisely, and Maintaining Your Online Privacy. Sponsored and supported by Trend Micro Internet Safety for Kids & Families and a number of participating organizations, "What's Your Story?" was created to empower kids, parents, teachers and schools around the world to make the Internet a safe and secure place for today's youth. The contest's in a class by itself quality is that it requires young people to become educated about being safe online, at that time empowers them as educators to impart advice to their peers through their videos.

The judging panel

"The judging panel was pleased by the high caliber of entries this year, making it very challenging to pick our winner," said Lynette Owens, director and founder of Trend Micro Internet Safety for Kids & Families. "I especially want to thank all of the contestants who devoted their time and energy to create wonderful videos that sought to inspire and educate young people everywhere on the issues surrounding Internet safety. They should be proud of their work and the impact that each video will make to young people across the globe."

The "What's Your Story?" videos have been shared by educators, school administrators and Internet safety activists all over the world to trigger conversations about online safety and digital citizenship. They have been used to incite young people to educate and influence one another on how to harness the power of the Internet in a safe and productive manner. Last year's "Pull the Plug on Cyberbullying" video was selected to be a part of Web Wise Kids' Public Service Announcement appearing on the CBS Superscreen in Times Square.

This year, Trend Micro Internet Safety for Kids & Families teamed with some of the world's leading organizations that either provide access to kids online or advocate for their safety.
