YMC Board mulls options for county office space in Canby
"I've had a lot of decrease in the number of vets that come in," said Veterans Services Officer Michelle Gatz. "Usually on rectification for the older vets to get in the VA we fill out the form over the phone. The younger vets want everything done over email."
In other business, the board voted to accept bids on a Voice Over Internet Protocol system to replace the 10-year-old system currently in use.
Shawn Larsen, a representative of Morris Electronics/American Communications, Inc., suggested the board consider switching to a hosted solution.
Company providing a hosted solution
Larsen explained in response to commissioners' questions that a company providing a hosted solution would upgrade the equipment as new research comes online, without the county having to bear the cost of replacing obsolete equipment, and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) would as well save the county money on long-distance telephone charges.
"We've found that most long-distance traffic is county-to-county," Larson said. "Some counties have paid for VOIP out of long-distance savings."
The sheriff's office while business hours
Hunters with coyotes must bring them to the sheriff's office while business hours, have the ears notched, and receive a voucher to take to the county auditor's office.
