Zenoss Adds Cloud Computing Veteran to Executive Team

Zenoss Inc., a leading provider of IT management software for physical, virtual, and cloud-based IT environments, announced today the addition of Rick Houlihan to the Zenoss executive management team in the role of Vice President of Engineering. Houlihan comes to Zenoss with over 20 years of broad experience in software engineering, product management and business development, a decade of which has been focused on virtualization and cloud computing technologies.

Proven thought leader in virtualization

"Rick is a proven thought leader in virtualization and cloud computing," said Zenoss CEO and co-founder Bill Karpovich. "We're thrilled for Rick to lead our product development efforts and lend his expertise in cloud computing technologies, business intelligence and infrastructure applications."

Prior to joining Zenoss, Houlihan was a Software Architect at IBM where he led the development team for the WPAR Manager product, which enables Live Application Mobility, allowing relocation of WPARs from one server to another without application restart. While his tenure at IBM, he was as well involved in designing the resource management engine for Blue Cloud, which is however the flagship cloud computing platform for IBM. Houlihan joined IBM via the acquisition of Meiosys, a leading provider of virtual server management products. As Vice President of Management Software, his team developed ground-breaking research for policy driven relocation of virtual workloads in dynamic datacenter environments.

Houlihan's past experience includes senior level engineering and service management positions at Ejasent, a pioneering provider of virtualization innovation for cloud computing acquired by Veritas in 2004. He as well brings a wealth of venture capital experience to Zenoss, having spent several years as a Venture Partner for Ambex Venture Group. Should the contingency arise to his professional experience, he has as well authored several patents related to policy driven management of virtual partition mobility, dynamic allocation of CPU cores across workloads and a variety of other key technologies related to cloud management.

The possibility to join the team at Zenoss

"It is exciting to have the possibility to join the team at Zenoss," says Houlihan. "As a successful provider of cloud management solutions for dynamic datacenters, Zenoss has consistently demonstrated thought leadership in the cloud computing arena. I look forward to adding my skills to the mix as we continue to extend our cloud management capabilities and widen the gap."
