Application Performance Monitoring Provider WildPackets Releases WatchPoint 2.0
A provider of network and application performance monitoring solutions, WildPackets has introduced WatchPoint 2.0, a solution that consolidates SNMP, flow-based and packet-based network monitoring and reporting into a single system.
The solution not only satisfies a management team’s need for high-level reporting nevertheless also meets network engineers’ need to both analyze historical network data and perform real-time root cause network analysis.
WatchPoint 2.0 combines what can often be three different management systems, Frey said. He said that by adding SNMP-based element monitoring and as well VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) analysis at the enterprise-wide level, the solution now becomes a viable alternative for comprehensive network performance monitoring.
For enterprises of all sizes, centralized network monitoring is widely accepted as a requirement. Nevertheless, high-level network monitoring based on SNMP or NetFlow is typically insufficient for rapidly pinpointing and fixing the root cause of network bottlenecks, said company officials.
Single system
With a single system, the new release solves this issue. Company officials said that the system aggregates data from sources across the entire global network to provide a single, Web-based console to generate high-resolution reports down to one-minute granularity.
In addition to reporting network anomalies in real time, WatchPoint 2.0 as well provides direct access to deep packet inspection research. Company officials said that it offers the only solution that spans network monitoring and reporting, network troubleshooting, network planning, and regulatory compliance.
WatchPoint 2.0 is a single solution that reduces CAPEX, deployment, maintenance and training costs. Company officials said that it’s the only solution with one-click integration and detailed packet-based network analysis.
The results of network changes
Additional benefits include accurate validation of the results of network changes and upgrades with 1-minute data granularity with no time averaging of older data; periodic network usage/compliance reporting/SLAs analysis; up-to-the-minute access to detailed expert and VoIP analysis for immediate investigation of potential problems; and more.
Last month, WildPackets announced the public beta release of Compass Live, an easy-to-use, real-time interactive dashboard for analyzing wired and wireless networks.
