At Tech Confab, Making It Easier To Pitch VCs
In a clever move to promote its Line2 app to users, San Francisco mobile VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) company Toktumi Inc. partnered with 14 VCs to allow start-ups to pitch their investor of choice through its hosted VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) system. Start-ups visit one of the Line2 booths and dial from a list to leave a voice mail or text.
"So far we've had 15 or so start-ups pitch from this station," said Toktumi Vice President of Revenue Sha Fakiri on Monday afternoon. "All the start-ups here want to get in front of VCs so we thought we'd use that to leverage the app."
The application
The application, which allows iPad and other mobile users to manage their communication without carriers, can be downloaded for free. Afterwards seven days users are prompted to pay a monthly fee that ranges from $9.95 to $14.95.
Founded in 2008 by Peter Sisson, the 35-person company is tracking to do $8 million in revenue this year, it said.
