Bids sought by commissioners for Tuscarora firehouse work

The commissioners were presented a contract for review from Lightspeed Technologies, Wilkes-Barre, to that end of purchasing and installing a new Voice Over Internet Producal phone system and computer network for the courthouse, county prison, adult probation, and human service buildings. Paul Straka, central service director, told the board the project will as well include an upgrade to the network equipment and interface to the 9-1-1 Emergency Management Agency administrative phone system. The total cost of the project is $422,838.90 and is a state contract price.

Scott Krater, director of the Schuylkill County 9-1-1, presented to the board for review an agreement with Greens Communication, Pottsville, for a service maintenance agreement for the 9-1-1 phone system which was installed in 1997. The cost of the agreement is $274,023.24 per year and is tariff eligible through Act 56 and 78. The term of the agreement is for one year.

Also presented for review was an agreement with Essentials Management Solutions, Pottsville, for a wireless post deployment maintenance services at a cost of $5,000 per month and is as well tariffi eligible. The proposed agreement is for 24 months. It is a different system from the proposed new phone system.
