CommScope Technology to Underlie Entire Communications Network

During museum lovers eagerly await the 2013 opening of the Perot Museum of Nature & Science in Dallas, CommScope is working behind the scenes to lay the groundwork for the communications infrastructure supporting the ultra-modern facility.

“Our communications infrastructure was no different. Having before worked with CommScope on the new Dallas Cowboys stadium, where they exceeded expectations, it was an easy choice to bring them in on another high-profile project.”

The heart of the facility

At the heart of the facility and essential to its day-to-day operations lies a complete CommScope solution powering all of the museum's wired and wireless communications. CommScope innovation will underpin everything - from touch-screen, interactive exhibits to the box office - and provide cellular coverage throughout. To boot, the solution includes infrastructure to support a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone system, as so then as building management and security applications.

"Every aspect of this building was designed and engineered to provide the most modern, cutting-edge experience possible - now and into the future," said Justin Ashford, the museum's director of research. "Our communications infrastructure was no different. Having earlier worked with CommScope on the new Dallas Cowboys stadium, where they exceeded expectations, it was an easy choice to bring them in on another high-profile project."

The museum's in-building communications solution

As part of the museum's in-building communications solution, CommScope is providing design and project management through its Global Services team. Installation includes 200,000 end-to-end feet of Category 6 cabling and a distributed antenna system for blanketed wireless coverage.

The Perot Museum is named for Margot and Ross Perot as a result of a 2008 gift of $50 million made by the Perot children in honor of their parents. At the same time with additional donations from area businesses, individuals, private and public foundations, the Museum announced that it met the $185 million fundraising goal in November 2011, making the dream of this ambitious project a reality.

CommScope has played a role in virtually all the world's best communication networks. We create the infrastructure that connects people and technologies through every evolution. Our portfolio of end-to-end solutions includes critical infrastructure our clients need to build high-performing wired and wireless networks. As much as research changes, our goal remains the same: to help our clients create, innovate, design, and build faster and better. We'll never stop connecting and evolving networks for the business of life at home, at work, and on the go.

Dallas' Perot Museum beckons passersby with its arresting design. The interior promises to be a feat in modern engineering with cutting-edge, interactive displays of everything from "dinosaurs to DNA" and fully-supported by communications research from CommScope.
