Cornerstone Telephone Picks Zhone's MXK
A provider of FTTx network access solutions, Zhone Technologies has announced the addition of Cornerstone Telephone to its MXK customer roster.
"The featured flexibility of the MXK serves just the purpose Cornerstone needs – to provide hybrid networking capabilities for its local businesses," Caskey said.
Troy, N.Y. based Cornerstone is an advanced communications solutions provider. It has been a competitive local exchange carrier provider since 2001. The company offers telephone, x-digital subscriber lines and Ethernet over coax services
The company deployed Zhone’s MXK as its multi-service access solution for business VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and high speed Ethernet-over-copper services for area businesses in Syracuse; Oneonta; New York City; Poughkeepsie; and Richmond.
Don Walsh, chief technical officer at Cornerstone Telephone, said that Zhone’s ability to deliver both VoIP and High Speed Internet Access with the greatest port density in the smallest footprint is the key deciding factor for deploying MXK.
The MXK to provide both copper
Cornerstone selected the MXK to provide both copper and fiber services on a single platform based on their experience with the deployment of Zhone’s MALC multi-service platform within their network.
To Cornerstone’s clients, MXK offers bandwidth increases. Should the contingency arise, it as well provides both data and VoIP for expanded revenue opportunities and improved customer satisfaction.
The MXK's 460 Gbps backplane
Cornerstone indicated that it will continue to rely on the MXK's 460 Gbps backplane, 28 Gbps uplinks and Terabit switching capacity along with 72 ports of POTS/VoIP, 72 ports of ADSL2+ and extended rate SHDSL-EFM cards.
"This domestic deployment furthers our customer base in the Northeastern United States and our strong relationship with Cornerstone and prove once again that our solutions are the right fit for business services," Caskey said.
Provider of IP multi-service access solutions
Zhone Technologies is a provider of IP multi-service access solutions, serving more than 750 of the world’s most innovative network operators. To-date, the company is said to have deployed over 2,000 of its fully redundant, carrier-grade all-IP MXK platforms with more than 150 service providers globally.
Earlier in July, QCOL deployed MXK as its primary Gigabit Passive Optical Network access platform for the new fiber-to-the-home network.
