CounterPath Launches RCS-e Softphone Client
CounterPath Corporation, a premier provider of innovative desktop and mobile VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) software products and solutions, has recently introduced its own RCS-e softphone client.
The RCS initiative is a joint effort among a group of key operators, infrastructure providers and device vendors to foster the evolution of mobile communications toward rich communication. Officials said that the company’s entry in the RCS-e market underscores the importance of the RCS protocol championed by the Global System for Mobile Communications Association.
The first version of the CounterPath RCS-e client is available for the Android platform to address the burgeoning market for this platform.
The companyâs Bria softphone innovation
Based on the company’s Bria softphone innovation, the RCS-e client will be available to CounterPath's carrier and service operator clients for both trials and commercial deployments.
With the help of CounterPath RCS-e client, users will be able to enjoy an intuitive user interface designed for easy and efficient communication, make and receive voice calls, make and receive instant messages via an easy-to-access slide tab, make and receive video calls with the option to quickly select the video source – front camera, back camera and transfer files, including photos and videos, from the RCS-e client to other devices.
"Market technology and patterns of early usage show that consumers in their 20s who actively engage in social networking are the initial target for RCS, followed by business and mobile-centric users who are accustomed to being connected anytime, anywhere," said Todd Carothers, CounterPath senior vice president, Marketing and Products, in a press release.
"There has always been, and continues to be, a strong correlation between these users and those who are strong adopters of CounterPath innovation as our softphones enable specifically this kind of connectivity and lifestyle," he added.
In related news, TMC has named CounterPath's Bria iPhone Edition, Bria iPad Edition and Bria Android Edition mobile softphones as recipients of the 2011 INTERNET TELEPHONY Product of the Year Award.
