D-Link Intros Energy-Efficient Gigabit Switches
Networking equipment maker D-Link has expanded its line of network switches with more rugged and energy efficient options.
The new switches includes the DGS-105
The new switches includes the DGS-105 and DGS-108 Gigabit Ethernet, as then as the DES-105 and DES-108 Fast Ethernet metal switches.
Available in five- and eight-port form factors, these unmanaged switches offer small to medium-size businesses high-speed networking and intelligent data streaming with quality of service prioritisation, and use the company's green research to save on power consumption.
The switches are packaged in a rugged metal enclosure providing security and reliability, and can be mounted on the desktop or walls via a built-in mount. The DGS-105 and DGS-108 Gigabit Ethernet metal switches provide data transfer speeds of up to 2,000Mbps. The switches support IEEE 802.1p QoS, which organises and prioritises time-sensitive and important data for efficient delivery for streaming media, voice over IP calling and online gaming.
The switches are as well 802
The switches are as well 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet compliant and can detect when a computer is shut down or when there is no Ethernet traffic, automatically shutting down the port. The company said this could save up to 85 percent on power consumption.
The DGS-105 and DGS-108 Gigabit Ethernet metal switches and DES-105 and DES-108 Fast Ethernet metal switches are now shipping through D-Link’s network of channel partners, including value-added resellers, solution providers and distributors.
"D-Link understands that small and medium-sized businesses rely on easy-to-use network innovation that provides high-end features, reliability and performance without breaking the bank," said Mark Prowten, director of product marketing for business networking solutions at D-Link. "The DGS-105/108 and DES-105/108 unmanaged network switches are self-managed rugged switches, combining the latest intelligent switch research with cost-saving Energy Efficient Ethernet, enabling businesses to work smarter [and] faster and be more productive."
