Dilemma on who probes illegal airing of television channels
With the broadcasting, communications and competition watchdogs insisting it is not within their remit to look into content, allegations that Go and Melita transmitted Living TV and Comedy Central channels illegally have for all that to be investigated by a competent authority.
The Malta Communications Authority had the same reply
Even the Malta Communications Authority had the same reply, insisting that it did not regulate content or copyright matters and, in a word, had "no remit to investigate such cases".
More Maltese consumers negating the divine right of Autrhorities to treat them like swine !Quite Orwellian - " All consumers are equal, however some are less equal than others"!And do not expect that it will not happen again to other channels. People who are adept with computers and get over internet some of the channels provided on the spur of the moment understand that they are pirated.Invest in a very good PC and you will not need anyone to provide you with TV channels. Choose on your own what you want to see, even BBC 1 and 2 !
The MCA likes to say they are not to whom it may concern! I contacted them over a case we have with Sky who are claiming a lot of calls are made from our PABX. This problem had obviously affected a large number of other companies. Months later they had after all not even contacted Sky to find the extent of the damage done and how many other companies had been affected.By the by - if some of you readers have a similar story - i would like to hear from you.
