IBM unveils next era of computing at PH expo
IBM Philippines will unveil a new family of systems and software that represent the first big steps toward the then and there era of computing on May 10, 2012 at the IBM Research Conference & Expo 2012 event, taking place at Shangri-La Hotel Makati.
At this annual event, which gathers clients, business partners, independent software vendors and research experts, IBM will launch the new PureSystems expert integrated systems offerings to the local market. The IBM PureSystems series is a new category of system that comes out-of-the-box with integrated expertise, offering clients the flexibility of a general-purpose computer with the simplicity of an appliance. The result of US$2billion in R&D and acquisitions over four years, the IBM PureSystems series come pre-loaded with application patterns that give businesses the knowledge of thousands of IBM deployments and millions of hours of expertise. As a result, organizations can be up and running with IBM PureSystems in as little as four hours. The IBM Research Conference & Expo 2012 will explore and answer current innovation questions around simplifying the complexity of IT, including: leveraging a "scale-in" system design, which integrates servers, storage and networking, supporting multiple OS and workloads, with easier management, and enable higher density to double computing power per square foot of data centre space; building in expertise through patterns which capture, distill and integrate insights from past projects directly into the system, and automating time-consuming tasks, thereby cutting months off previous deployment times; learning how to integrate a ready-to-go, "cloud system in a box" technology elements needed to stand up a private cloud system, with built-in security, in minutes. This one-day event will as well cover a range of technology focus areas, just as: Smarter Infrastructure solutions to create Optimized Data Centers; the creation of a Smarter Data Center with Hybrid Computing; the latest cloud-ready management tools to help in automation and flexibility; and introductions to IBM's Storage offerings, Power Systems and BladeCenter solutions for the Data Center. Of key interest to attendees will be the competitive edge IBM's Software and Hardware offerings bring to this new era of Smarter Computing. IBM introduced Smarter Computing last year, in reference to smarter architecture that helps customers gain actionable insights from data, increase IT capacity and deliver new services faster, to create profitable business opportunities. The strategy centers around leveraging analytics to exploit vast amounts of data for business goals; utilizing optimized systems that are designed for specific tasks; and managing as much of the IT as possible with cloud-computing technologies. The event will as well host a large breadth of business partners collaborating with IBM in the development of offerings for this new era of Smarter Computing, just as Vmware, Intel, TE Connectivity, Red Hat, Infor, Lenovo and Motorola Solutions. "The new IBM PureSystems to be launched in the Philippines while the IBM Technology Conference & Expo 2012 will offer our clients true integration opportunely, high levels of performance manageability, scalability, and lower cost of operations through simplified managementâ" said Ireen Catane, Country Executive for Systems & Technology Group, IBM Philippines.
