IDG Enterprise, the publisher of leading IT/business publications, announced the results of the 2011 Data Center Survey conducted among more than 1,700 IT and security decision-makers from a range of industries.

Security executives and budgets remain a top concern in securing the Data Center, with 51 percent of security respondents saying that IT and security splits the Data Center security investment, resulting in furthermore organization dollars being allocated to this research.

The decision-making process for Data Center investments and strategy is lead by IT executives, including CIOs, CTOs and IT/networking management, IDG survey said. As Data Centers become a significant IT priority, IT decision-makers are focused on preparing for challenges that may arise.

Virtualization tops as the most significant innovation/trend impacting Data Center investments in the straightway twelve months. Server virtualization is the topmost trend, followed by storage virtualization and desktop virtualization.

Important factors considered during selecting data center innovation vendors include ability to meet security requirements, support & service and integration to existing infrastructure.
