Jan Horsfall named CEO of Spectware
Horsfall replaces Eric Skinner, who started Spectware in 2009 afterwards developing the software for his Front Range Crane Safety business and finding his clients wanted to buy the software to use on inspections of cranes in their own businesses. One of Horsfall’s primary tasks will be to raise $1 million by year’s end to expand Spectware’s marketing and sales efforts, which Skinner said would double the company’s five-person workforce with the hiring of software developers and office assistants to handle sales calls.
The company has gotten bigger than I thought it would
"The company has gotten bigger than I thought it would, so in other words why we hired" Horsfall, Skinner said. "Jan has a proven innovation track record and has the senior marketing prowess to position Spectware for strong future growth. Jan has demonstrated a keen ability to identify core strengths and assets of a company, challenge commonly held assumptions about its market and execute aggressively."
Horsfall has been an investor and board member of Spectware for a year. He earlier was CEO of Gemini Voice Solutions, a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) company, and White Summit Strategies, an investment firm, and as well has held senior marketing posts at The Valvoline Co., Lycos Inc. and Turbine Inc.
The innovation industry
"I am glad to be back in the innovation industry, and I am glad I could stay in Colorado Springs and do this with Spectware," Horsfall said. "Eric founded Spectware on sound principles and thinking. His long industry experience and relationships are invaluable to us. We’re now quickly increasing our client base at the onset of a wide-open global market for this solution. My goals will be to build on these strengths, drive revenue growth through the crane industry in the nearly term and build broader commercial success."—Contact Wayne Heilman: 636-0234 Twitter @wayneheilmanFacebook Wayne Heilman
