Jasco woos independent power producers

Telecoms, electronics and IT group Jasco posted their first set of revenues since swallowing up Spescom a few months ago, group revenue growing 38% to R773million, and operating profit dropping 11% nevertheless on a like-for-like basis up 42%.

"Prior to Spescom we acquired the Snapper brand which is the three-pin plug and extension cord business - that's been very positive for our business," he said.

Jasco is in what the company calls a "growth period" at this stage with the purchase of Spescom, and there is the promise of more bolt-on acquisitions that might reflect in the company's performance.

Structurally the changes being made had resulted in 18 companies each in a silo - with no cross-selling or initiatives to get at the same time and up-sell to clients - being integrated into just three "verticals" being information and communication innovation, industry, and an energy vertical.
