Pica emphasized that LTE (Long Term Evolution, latest standard in the mobile network technology) users were after all able to use voice and SMS services and said the carrier's 3G EV-DO Rev. A network was even so operational throughout the LTE (Long Term Evolution, latest standard in the mobile network technology) outage.
Today's outage marked the second time that Verizon's LTE network has gone down within the last month as it experienced a similar outage on Dec. 6-7 when users reported that they could only achieve 3G speeds in spite of having 4G LTE devices. Verizon's LTE network as well went down this past April when users were similarly knocked down to the company's 3G EV-DO Rev. A network for days earlier Verizon got the 4G network back up and running.
