Microsoft and HP to collaborate on public and private cloud services

Microsoft launched Office 365 before this year, afterwards more than eight months of hype. The company hopes the new service will propel its popular Office software into the cloud computing era, and help it to challenge Google Apps in the cloud productivity space.

Solid cloud offering for small

Office 365 has been broadly welcomed as a solid cloud offering for small and medium businesses, nevertheless the service got off to a shaky start, with millions of Office 365 users left stranded by a global outage caused by DNS problems in September.

Despite this, Microsoft claims that Office 365 is selling eight times faster than its predecessor, the Business Productivity Online Suite, and is on track to become one of the company's fastest-growing products ever.
