Microsoft Releases Lync 2010 App for Android

Software giant Microsoft has dished out its Lync corporate communication app for Google's Android mobile operating system.

Lync allows people to manage contacts and place VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) calls during doubling up as an instant messaging client. The platform brings audio conferencing, video conferencing, voice and instant messaging in accordance with a single roof. Microsoft has launched the Lync 2010 for Android previously releasing the iOS version.

The app allows users to see which of their colleagues are online in real-time and gives them options to connect with them instantly via instant messaging, email or phone call. Lync for Android as well allows users to join a conference call without needing passwords or special numbers.

Microsoft has as well equipped the app with the capability to allow users to forward calls to their Enterprise Voice number.

"Lync 2010 for Android extends the power of Lync to your mobile device - including rich presence, instant messaging, audio conferencing, and calling features from a single, easy-to-use interface," Microsoft says.

In order to use the app, users would require a Lync Server or Office365/Lync Online account, Microsoft informs on the Lync 2010 for Android download page.
