MyNetFone's Local Number Portability breakthrough drives consumer uptake of NBN
MyNetFone's Local Number Portability is one of the biggest breakthroughs in the Australian VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) industry and is enabling residents in NBN-enabled areas to take advantage of the NBN and keep their phone numbers by moving it 'into the cloud' on the MyNetFone VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) service. With NBN fibre services now available in eight Australian communities, and an extensive rollout schedule to continue across the country over the then 12 months, many Australians are looking for ways to get rid of their landlines without losing their current phone number. Number Portability has been a key market differentiator for MyNetFone and it remains one of the only VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) providers with this capability. The company has bilateral agreements in place with all the major providers in Australia, making it easy for clients to move their numbers from traditional landline providers. Since the initial NBN rollout began, MyNetFone has successfully ported the numbers of several clients in NBN-enabled areas. One such customer is Mr. Anthony Bernich of Kiama, NSW who moved his existing number over to MyNetFone once he made the switch to NBN. "I did some technology online and there were many providers who offered VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) services, however my main motivation for going with MyNetFone was the ability to port my
In addition to number portability, MyNetFone's VoIP service is user-friendly with a simple DIY setup, low call rates and free advanced call features just as Caller ID, voicemail, voicemail to email and more. With VoIP set to become the 'default' phone option in an NBN environment, MyNetFone's high-quality, feature-rich service combined with Local Number Portability allows the company to position itself as the communications provider of choice as the rollout continues across the country.
"In many ways, phone numbers have become a part of our identity, so why lose it if you don't have to? With phone numbers no longer tied to landlines and a growing awareness of VoIP and the many benefits and savings attached to it, we expect many more consumers to be making the move to VoIP," says Rene Sugo, Technical Director of MyNetFone. "This is a actually exciting time for us and the NBN at any rate presents us with a great possibility to establish ourselves as a major player in the telecommunications market."
