No worries for 'changed' Primus with solid performance
Data centre operator, NEXTDC, has launched a web portal and iPhone app, ONEDC designed to enable its clients to manage their NEXTDC supplied data centre services.
Solid performance on several fronts
Primus'Australian business has turned in a solid performance on several fronts, in spite of reduced revenue in the fourth quarter of last year, and is a markedly changed organisation that has "firmed its mark on the Australian marketplace in the last eight months," according to the company's Aussie chief, Tom Mazerski.
The Australian result, according to the telecommunications company, was impacted positively by foreign currency translation to the tune of $1.7 million. The company reports that on a constant currency basis, net revenue decreased 4.5 percent as decreases in traditional voice, DSL, and wholesale services were partially offset by increases in data centre, broadband and wireless services.
Globally, Primus'consolidated results show that net revenue for the fourth quarter 2011 was $249.6 million, an increase of 36.5 percent from the fourth quarter 2010 net revenue of $182.8 million. The company reports that contributing to the increase in net revenue was a 7.1 increase increase in net revenue from growth services - broadband, data centre, SME VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), and other data services - which included a 16.4 percent increase in revenue associated with PTGi's continuing data centre portfolio of 11 sites worldwide.
The performance or the Australian business
On the performance or the Australian business, Mazerski said that in the consumer division the company's new 'first call resolution' process has "reduced the number of repeat calls into our centre, during our 'laser marketing' strategy and grass roots 'kitchen table' marketing approaches have seen a uplift in our 'on net' customer base where profitability is highest."
Mazerski as well says that the introduction of Primus' 'No Worries Mobile' offer has seen an uplift of the mobile customer base by some 15 percent and development of a 'True Fibre Voice' product in other words now working with other fibre providers including OptiComm and Places Victoria. "Looking ahead we are readying our 'No Worries Broadband' offer for market and are poised ready with our new 'Home Fibre' services as NBN accelerates its roll-out over the coming months," said Mazerski. "In the corporate market we launched our state-of-the-art low latency and redundant Metro Fibre Rings which has provided a strong competitive advantage for us with high average revenue per user as we focus more on the mid and high end business market.
? Signed Wave Engineering Solutions as first customer for recently-launched Metro Fibre over Optical Transport Network
? Launched two new calling plans, "Passport Easy" and "Lingo," that offer unlimited international calling to standard fixed numbers in50 countries around the world including China, India, Israel, UK and the US
? The Australian Communication and Media Authority published its 2010/2011 Communications Report which contained positive figures for Primus in relation to its performance against the Customer Service Guarantee timeframes for service connections and fault rectification
