Public library offices, branches will change phone lines
The library is switching to a VOIP – Voice Over Internet Protocol – system, library spokesman David Domkoski said.
The new system operates over Internet lines or rather than through a local network provider. The system provides greater flexibility, Domkoski said, and is less expensive than traditional telephone service.
The spending plan for Whatcom County Library System includes a 1 percent increase in property tax revenue that the library system, which is a taxing district, is allowed to take in accordance with state law.
"It is revenue neutral," he told the library board of directors Tuesday. The library system serves the Tri-Cities and outlying communities from Kahlotus and Othello to Prosser and Benton City,
