REDCOM Officials Feature SLICE IP Micro Softswitch

REDCOM officials recently featured their SLICE IP Micro for transportable IP communications for corporate and private networks, noting that it integrates certain IP Multimedia Subsystem components and call management functionality into the size of a hardcover book.

The SLICE IP Micro, as described by company officials, "puts all the power of a REDCOM SLICE IP into your hands. Powered by REDCOM's TRANSip IP innovation suite, SLICE IP Micro supports up to 3,000 VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) subscribers, dual-stack IPv4/IPv6, and configurable conferencing."

Another advantage is just how easily transportable it is for remote communications -- along with being powerful enough for corporate applications. Its compactness is a significant marketing feature, as company officials say "the small footprint of the SLICE IP Micro makes it the product of choice when space is at a premium."

Last July TMC noted that one reason for making it so small and transportable, company officials say, is that it’s easily transportable for remote communications -- however still powerful enough for corporate applications. It appears the idea behind the SLICE IP Micro is to offer a so so complete VoIP tool in a single platform, where the smaller the footprint the better: "The entire unit is powered by a regular laptop power supply."
