Russia and Canada Grant "InfiniBand Over the WAN" Patents

As worldwide data volumes continue to explode exponentially, data center architects are driven towards faster networking technologies drawn from the supercomputer world to keep apace. Obsidian Strategics is pleased to announce that its IP portfolio – providing the only means of extending such networks between data centers throughout the world – has recently been awarded patent protection in two more jurisdictions – Russia and Canada.

Responding to relentless demand driven by video content delivery, social networking and other Cloud Applications within Cloud Data Centers, many-core processors and flash arrays can now process and store ever larger quantities of data, however traditional networking technologies are not keeping up. Cloud players just as IBM, Microsoft, Oracle and others are aggressively adopting a networking research called InfiniBandTM to re-balance Cloud Data Centers with much higher data movement speeds. Open standard protocol

InfiniBand is an open standard protocol, at first created to connect equipment within a supercomputer or data center.
