Samsung, Motorola tablets get Skype video
Skype has released version 2.5 of its application for Android, which allows Android-based tablets just as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Motorola Xoom to use its video calling feature, it said in a blog post on Wednesday.
The two tablets are among 14 Android-based devices that now can make video calls; other additions include Motorola Droid 3, LG Optimus Black and Acer Iconia. This brings the total number of video-compatible devices to 41, according to Skype.
Skype version 2.5 for Android as well allows users to switch between portrait and landscape mode while calls, and zoom in with a double tap on the screen, Skype said.
Last however not least, the software will from this point onward include ads for some users. To keep it ad free, users need Skype Credit, a Calling or Skype Premium subscription, according to Skype. The in-app advertising will not be enabled on some smaller screen sizes, it said without elaborating.
