See Ashton Kutcher in Steve Jobs' signature outfit
TMZ has a series of snaps of the 34-year-old actor in Los Angeles dressed in the Apple co-founder's black polo neck, stonewash denim and New Balance trainers. And it's not a bad likeness.
When we heard Kutcher would be donning the polo neck to play Jobs, we thought it was a joke. But at that time it was 1 April. The film will show Jobs founding Apple in a garage on April Fool's Day in 1976, through to him getting fired and in the end his return to Apple in 1997. And then and there its subsequent turnaround.
The film is directed
The film is directed by Joshua Michael Stern who as well worked on Swing Vote and The Contractor with Wesley Snipes. Matt Whiteley wrote the script. Whiteley has no other credits on IMDB, nevertheless let's not hold that against him. Josh Gad will play Steve Wozniak, even though whether a scene has been hurriedly inserted in which he enthuses about Windows Phone remains to be seen.
Kutcher seems pretty tech-savvy, being the first person to reach a million followers on Twitter and getting involved in VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) startup Ooma. However does he have the skills to play as complex a man as Jobs?
Fictionalised account
It's not Jobs' first appearance in a fictionalised account. In 1999 ER star Noah Wyle played Jobs in the made for TV movie Pirates of Silicon Valley, with Anthony Michael Hall as Bill Gates. Nevertheless this is set to be the biggest Jobs movie to date. And The Social Network proved there is an appetite for tech stories on film, so it could be huge.
