Sidecar adds video, images, messaging
Sidecar, a new app for Android and iOS smartphones that promises to reinvent the way we view phone calls has hit each platform's respective app store. The free app adds location, real-time video, image, and contact sharing to your traditional VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone call.
What they are seeing
Sidecar users can share what they are seeing, send messages, and share contacts with one another all while a uninterruptedly-connected phone call. The services ties a number of communication protocols at the same time to accomplish this feat, including XMPP and SIP, and it wraps it all in a pretty, so then-designed app.
Phone calls between Sidecar users are free and can be placed when on Wi-Fi, 3G, or 4G connections. Additionally, Sidecar users can call any number in the U.S. and Canada for free when they are on Wi-Fi networks.
