Symbio signs NBN Co wholesale broadband agreement
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has flagged concerns over the increased power Telstra would get in fixed broadband and voice markets if cable TV provider Foxtel acquires regional satellite TV provider Austar. Foxtel has offered an undertaking to address the competition issues and the ACCC is calling for submission of views from Telstra's competitors.
Symbio Networks - a provider of white label VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) services has signed NBN Co's wholesale broadband agreement and says that it will before long complete the accreditation process to become an NBN wholesale aggregator.
"Combined with Symbio's market-leading, proprietary number porting system, our clients will be able to port their end-users phone numbers 'into the cloud' and deliver all the feature-rich functionality and flexibility of a new-generation IP solution over a reliable access link. We anticipate this will significantly improve the user experience of the IP services and lead to unprecedented rate of increase in IP communications take-up."
