TCG project manager Nina Preuss has been named by Women In Research as one of 49 finalists for its 13th Annual Leadership Awards. The awards honor women who have excelled as mentors, leaders, and role models in the Washington, DC innovation industry. Ms. Preuss is one of five finalists in the Public Sector category. Winners in all 11 categories will be announced at the Leadership Awards Banquet on May 17, 2012 at the McLean Hilton, Tyson’s Corner, VA.
Project manager with TCG
As a project manager with TCG, Ms. Preuss has mastered the connections between neuroscience, Biosafety Level 4 technology into some of the world’s most dangerous microbes, emergency planning, and grants management, and how all of these are connected by big data, cloud computing, FISMA security, wireless, and web-based collaboration technologies. This insight, combined with her background in business and marketing, enables her to talk to, collaborate with, and help research professionals create outcomes far greater than the sum of their parts. For instance, one of the projects she manages, the Neuroimaging Informatics Tools and Resources Clearinghouse, which TCG developed for NIH, won the Excellence.Gov 2009 “Best Overall” Award. Ms. Preuss has proven that marketing and business capabilities melded with innovation and scientific skills help communities collaborate more effectively and efficiently.
TCG’s company goal is to save the US taxpayer $1 billion by 2016. So far the company has saved the government more than $265 million by automating once-costly processes, using time-saving and money-saving processes in developing code, helping the government restructure its business processes, and paying careful attention to the company’s own expenses on contracts.
