Big Data raises its head this week in the GRC space with an IDC cloud computing survey, which found that Big Data is increasing Western European utilities' appetite for cloud products, with 46.2% of respondents positive that cloud would be able to solve Big Data issues.

It as well found that security and regulatory compliance are the main barriers to public cloud adoption for utilities, with around 24% believing that regulation will negatively affect cloud adoption.In the utilities vertical, most enterprises believe that public cloud computing encourages more standards and quicker implementation.

Also this week, IT security expert Avira announced the general availability of Avira Free Android Security software, which can remotely locate, lock or erase an Android phone anywhere in the world to maintain security. It can even make the phone "scream" to help you find it hiding behind the couch cushions.

Avira Free Android Security is compatible with Android versions 2.2 and 2.3 and is available for download in English.
