
Thousands of teachers and students benefit from software at discounted price
During 2011, the government and Microsoft signed a five-year strategic partnership which included a number of key initiatives. Moreover the software offers for all students and teaching professionals, the partnership included government licensing, licensing for schools, educational programmes and initiatives and the establishment of a Microsoft Technology Centre in Malta focused on cloud computing.
Series of prizes were available to be won
A series of prizes were available to be won by students and teaching professionals who bought the software, including an Xbox 360 and an HTC Phone Windows 7, among others. Previously awarding the prizes to the winners, the Country Manager for Microsoft Malta, Adrianna Zammit, said: "Microsoft believes that to be successful in today's knowledge-based societies, students and teachers benefit by utilising research effectively and developing ICT skills."
Other small prizes, including mobile phone screen protectors and vouchers, were as well provided by Newtech, Microsoft's local distributor, to 250 students and teaching professionals.
