Windstream takes over PAETEC

Windstream Corp. officials spent their first day in charge of the former PAETEC Holding Corp. meeting with 52 Rochester-area employees whose jobs will before long be eliminated, and at the time meeting in groups with the other 900, talking about the future of the data and communications company.

Joe Marano, senior vice president of business and financial services for Windstream, said the initial cuts are for the most part redundant positions at the corporate level in human resources, marketing and accounting. Of the 22 senior executives PAETEC had, nine will remain.
