Canada's Globalive wins court battle against Public Mobile

Canadian telecom operator Globalive Communications Corporation has won a court fight with rival Public Mobile Inc, as the Canadian Supreme Court declined to hear a challenge by the latter against an before federal court decision confirming Globalive's group company Wind Mobile's compliance with Canadian ownership rules.

Toronto-based Globalive is a leader in then-generation telecommunications solutions ranging from long-distance services and high-speed internet, to mobile phone services, VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and carrier clearinghouse solutions.

Globalive group companies include Yak Communications, OneConnect, Canopco, Assemble Conferencing, InterClear, Lucky Call, Canada Payphone, Cohere Communications and the newest entity, Wind Mobile.

Wind Mobile, which started its operation in 2009, provides voice, text and data services through a straightway-generation all-IP wireless network. The company has over 400,000 clients and operates over 490 distribution points.
